For convenient macOS playback control wirelessly, consider using TodayRemote. This application allows you to control media on your Mac with just a swipe, whether from the Lock Screen or any open app, eliminating the need to unlock your iPhone or iPad to operate the TodayRemote widget.

TodayRemote supports popular music apps like iTunes and Spotify, as well as other players such as VLC, Beamer (for Apple TV and Chromecast), and Vox. Additionally, it offers compatibility with web players in Chrome or Safari, including YouTube, Netflix, and SoundCloud.

Key features of TodayRemote include the ability to pair multiple Mac computers and switch between them directly in the Notification Center widget, an overview of playing music or videos, and controls for Play/Pause, Next/Previous track, and the computer's volume (with the option to adjust gradually by holding the volume buttons).

Furthermore, users can fast-forward and rewind media by holding the Next/Previous buttons. To utilize TodayRemote, each computer must have the corresponding Helper installed and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iOS device.

The application offers a free mode that enables control of iTunes on one computer. Additionally, there are in-app purchases available to unlock all features.
